Every day is a great day to fly with your Ugears Mad Hornet vintage racer. Inspired by the Granville Brothers’ Gee Bee Model R-1 Super Sportster and other vintage race planes of the 1930s, the Mad Hornet Flying Gear features a thick, teardrop-shaped fuselage and a spacious rear cockpit to give the pilot better visibility on the tight turn around the racetrack pylons.
The Ugears Mad Hornet Airplane is a “Medium” difficult DIY wooden model with 354 parts and promises 8 hours of enjoyable assembly time. The plane model is powered by a wind-up screw spring motor, often used in watch mechanisms and other precision instruments. Several gear sets transfer power from the spring to the moving parts of the aircraft. The Mad Hornet has two modes: pre-flight check mode and cab mode. Choose the mode by turning the rotating drum to one of two positions. Insert the special key into the stopper slot and pull the winding cord up to 21 times. Place the plane on a flat surface, remove the key and watch your Mad Hornet come to life. In check mode, the propeller spins while the wing flaps and tail rudder wobble, before the plane automatically switches over to cab across the airport to the runway. In cab mode, your plane begins taxiing immediately, up to 2.5
