Biography and History Finhold Gallery

In 1976 the making of marionettes started, which we have sold successfully for the past 25 years. In the last 6 years miniatures and standing models and of course bears have joined our repertoire. In the mean time the making of bears has become our number one priority. In our little atelier we worked together to design various things. As a team we put some of our ideas into action which, together we turn into a design. It usually takes a while to achieve our quality standard and our design is finished. Most of the time we adjust things here and there till we are pleased with the result. A lot of the time the idea springs on us much like a song would for a singer/songwriter. Then the road to the actual production is quick and these are usually the best designs. We hardly know where our inspiration comes from, but what is sure is the joy with which we see the product come to life. In production we manufacture our bears together. Whether it’s about the making of bears, making the marionettes dance, to paint or make music it’s a must in life for us. We never joined competitions. We just didn’t have the time. We know that the distinction can have a positive effect and be a form of publicity. Our own motto was always “either our products appeal to you or they don’t”. Everybody has their own taste. For us the joy of the creation is our priority. We’re a little older and we have 5 kids some of which are already adults. In the past year we got out first grandchild. To add on to this is that our kids often contributed worthy ideas to our designs. We hope that we gave a bit of an idea about our work and brought our bears a little closer. We wish the best to all our collectors and that they get a lot of happiness from the creations!
