Rian van der Have-Kodde

Rian was already fascinated by babies and baby dolls at a young age. She wanted to do something with this. When her own children were still small she took a course in doll making. Here she learnt all the technical intricacies about the industry and developed her own skill. Her husband saw that she had talent and as a surprise he bought her an oven to bake the dolls. Pretty soon they had made a couple of dolls and went to Ahoy (Rotterdam) with them, they were greatly admired here. Through the exchange she met Mrs Hesemans from Breda. She stimulated her in her work and gave her tips to present the perfected dolls. In Breda you can buy Rian’s dolls. In her baby doll atelier she has been making the most beautiful, porcelain dolls. All her baby dolls are her own designs and are very detailed and handmade. Not only the extreme detail in her dolls stand out, you also see the incredible craftsmanship. This costs so much time that often she is working on a doll for longer than a month. This makes it obvious that most of her dolls are very limited editions, and every doll has its own traits. The limited editions vary from 1 to a maximum of 10. Rian: “I find it super exciting that my dolls can be seen worldwide. It’s a bit unusual, but because of the wonderful reactions I’m sure that feeling will pass.” Now her kids are not living at home anymore Rian has a lot more time for the dolls. Though sometimes it’s only partially because with a grandkid you can get new inspiration but that also costs a lot of time!
