Cacofonix of Asterix en Obelix
€449,00
Asterix® Obelix® Idéfix® / ©2023 Les Editions Albert René / Goscinny – Uderzo
Kakofonix (Assurancetourix ) was created for Europe, with the exception of Germany, Great Britain and Ireland. Available only in France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.
He is the musician in the Gallic village. Kakofonix is best known for his bad singing. Kakofonix’s singing is not appreciated by his tribesmen and even animals go wild for it. However, he himself believes that he sings beautifully. When his tribesmen gag him, he is offended. Bunch of barbarians is a phrase he often uses. Only in the first story is he allowed to provide musical accompaniment.
In three cases his singing is crucial:
In Asterix and the Normans, he gives a recital to a bunch of Norsemen who want to know what fear is.
In The Rose and the Sword, his singing ability forms a weapon that causes fierce thunderstorms, giving Asterix the chance to temporarily keep the Romans (and the Romans themselves) out of the forest.
In Asterix in Indus-Land, he travels, in the company of Asterix and Obelix, to the distant Indies, when Wiesda, a fakir, discovers that his singing unleashes gusts of rain. Indeed, it is traditionally said in France that if you sing out of tune, it will rain.
Although not crucial, his bad singing also plays a powerful element in his defense in Asterix as a gladiator, when during the Games he not only chased away the lions with it, but also made the spectators, including Caesar himself, jump out of their skin with it. As a result, he became a fan richer, being Zwezerix.
Also used as an element in an Asterix strategy, Cacofonix’s poor singing skills are the reason for the razing of the Roman pleasure garden in the album of the same name: the bard receives a small apartment as a gift from the villagers, but as was to be expected, he is soon thrown out: an insult to the Gauls and the pretext for reprisals thus to follow.
Kakofonix is the successor to Dogmatix, Asterix, Obelix, Getafix, the wild boar, Majestix and Bellefleur.
He is made of mohair, has a velour printed shirt on and his head and arms are movable.
There are painted details on his face and body. Gold plated button in ear. Of course, his harp is not missing!
