Teddies for tomorrow 55PB Teddy bear

In 1902 Richard Steiff designed and created an articulated bear – the world’s first toy of its kind – the Bear 55 PB. Images from the archived Steiff documents provide valuable information about his appearance, as does his name. The letters stand for “P” = plush, “B” = movable and 55 symbolizes its standing size. The world’s first teddy bear is proud to be included in the “Teddies for tomorrow” series as part of a new series of iconic characters made from alternative materials. He bears the 1897 company logo in the form of his neck mark.
